Attorney Biography

I am a member of a select group of attorneys specializing in divorce and other family law issues.

There are over 75,000 attorneys in Florida.

Less than 300 Florida attorneys have been recognized by judges and fellow attorneys as having the legal knowledge, skill and experience to achieve board certification by The Florida Bar in marital and family law.

I became board certified in marital and family law in June 2003.

Only a board certified attorney can claim they specialize in family law.

It is common for many attorneys to claim they specialize or have expertise in family law. However, it is unethical to do so unless that attorney is board certified in marital and family law by The Florida Bar. Rules 4-7.6(b) and 6-3.4(c), Rules Regulating the Florida Bar.

I am also “AV” rated by Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory. An “AV” rating is the highest rating possible for legal knowledge and ethics. Martindale-Hubbell solicits confidential opinions via written questionaires from members of the Bar, including members of the judiciary. According to Maritindale-Hubbell, "An AV rating shows that a lawyer has reached the height of professional excellence. He or she has usually practiced for many years, and is recognized for the highest levels of skill and integrity."

I received my undergraduate degree in English from the University of Florida in 1991, and was awarded a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Florida in 1994. I was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1995.

I limit my practice to divorce and other family law issues, and have handled over a thousand cases in the field of family law.

I previously served on the Florida Family Law Rules and Forms Committee.

Certified by the Florida Supreme Court as a family law mediator, I maintain an active family law mediation practice.
